Web Application Server

Cross-location Data Maintenance via Web Frontend

The web architecture is based on web and API servers. It enables users to maintain and translate product information and media assets. This is done independently of location and according to the authorizations assigned to the respective user. In addition, features, images, texts and relationships can be compared and edited in tabular form. You can see at a glance where data is missing, different or inherited. There are extensive options for sorting, grouping, filtering and customizing the interface.

Advantages of the web application server

  • Central platform for web applications

  • Platform-independent access via the browser

  • Integrated authentication with single sign-on (SSO)

  • Simple connection to third-party systems

  • Scalable and maintenance-friendly server architecture

Function Overview

Maintenance of Product Information (PIM)

Products are selected directly or via the task list. Color-coded information is displayed for deviating or missing values. Columns can be shown or hidden as required and the order can be adjusted. As mandatory and optional fields can be defined on the basis of the customer-specific data model, the user is guided through the data maintenance process, thus ensuring high data quality.

Maintenance of Media Assets (MAM)

Images, documents and videos can be imported, converted and referenced. Defined metadata (e.g. version, language and category) is determined or defined and assigned during the import process. After the import, additional metadata such as image rights, keywords and textual descriptions can be added.

Maintenance of output structures

Structures, e.g. for the export to print and online channels, are displayed in the form of trees and lists. These structures can be easily created and enriched with media and text elements using drag & drop.

Workflow and DQM

Various functionalities support workflow-supported processing. These include the dashboard with calendar, the task list and the notification functions. Data quality management (DQM) with a graphical progress indicator for product data maintenance and translation is also integrated. A maintenance wizard enables the guided processing of missing mandatory fields based on the task list.

Translation and correction

The translation and its correction can be order-based or for texts that can be selected as required. Authorizations can be assigned for this. Planning and control is carried out by the translation manager, who can also view the progress at any time. The WYSIWYG editor is integrated into the overview table so that texts can be translated quickly and easily without additional dialogs. The display of layout contexts, Trados integration and the print-ready preview with the InDesign server provide optimum support for the translation.

Maintenance of catalog assortments

Catalog assortments can be edited comparatively based on the assortment or article. The user can only maintain those assortments for which they have the appropriate authorization. The simulation of output channels and the filtering of assortments based on product groups also ensure convenient editing.
